Carrollton & McKinney Dental Insurance & Billing
Clear answers about coverage and costs, before treatment ever starts
Kidz and Teen Dental + Orthodontics accepts most major insurance plans and Medicaid, verifies benefits before treatment, and provides clear cost estimates.
When insurance feels confusing, we’re here to sort it out
Dental insurance is hard to read, and every plan works a little differently. At Kidz and Teen Dental + Orthodontics, our Carrollton & McKinney dental insurance and billing team checks your coverage before your child’s visit, explains what it actually means, and gives you a clear cost estimate before any treatment starts.

Common insurance terms, explained simply
Dental insurance comes with its own vocabulary, and it’s rarely explained well. Here’s what the terms on your benefits summary actually mean:
- In-network: We have a contract with your insurance company, which usually means a lower cost for you
- Out-of-network: We don't have a contract with your specific plan, though many plans still cover part of the cost
- Deductible: the amount you pay out of pocket each year before your insurance starts contributing
- Annual maximum: the most your plan will pay toward dental care in a year
- Waiting period: a length of time you need to be enrolled before certain treatments are covered
- EOB (Explanation of Benefits): the summary your insurance company sends after a claim, showing what they paid and what you owe
What if we’re out-of-network or your coverage is unclear?
Being out-of-network doesn’t change how we treat your family, we can still see your child here. Most PPO plans continue to cover part of the cost, even for out-of-network, just at a different reimbursement rate. When that’s the case for your plan, we’ll estimate what your insurance is likely to cover and what your part will be, so you’re deciding with real numbers instead of a guess.
If your coverage is unclear or if you’re not sure what your plan includes, tell us. Sorting out confusing coverage is a normal part of what our front desk team does every day, not an extra step for you to handle alone.
How do we verify your child’s benefits before treatment
Here’s what happens between booking and your child’s appointment:
Share your insurance information
When you schedule, give us your insurance details or your child’s Medicaid information. We’ll take it from there.
We check your benefits before you arrive
Our team contacts your insurance company to confirm your plan is active, what’s covered, and what your out-of-pocket portion is likely to be for the visit or treatment your child needs.
You get a clear estimate before treatment starts
Beyond a routine cleaning or exam, we’ll walk you through the cost in writing before treatment begins. If a bigger treatment plan is recommended, you’ll see the timeline and price before you decide anything.
We keep you posted on changes
Insurance plans change, sometimes mid-year. If something shifts between your child’s visits, we’ll let you know before it affects your bill, not after.
Orthodontic insurance works a little differently
If your child needs braces, Invisalign, or early orthodontic treatment, it helps to know that orthodontic coverage usually works separately from general dental benefits. Many plans set a separate lifetime maximum for orthodontics, and some don’t cover it at all, or only cover treatment started before a certain age.
Because we treat orthodontic and general dental care under one roof, we can check both sides of your benefits at the same time and explain how they work together.
Ways to pay beyond insurance
Insurance rarely covers 100% of treatment, so we built in other ways to manage the cost of your child’s care:
- Cash and a credit card
- Financing options, including CareCredit, Sunbit, and Proceed Financial
- Our in-office membership plan is a straightforward way to budget for preventive care without insurance
- Online bill pay, so you can take care of a balance from your phone or computer
