Carrollton & McKinney Orthodontics for Children and Teens

Straight teeth matter. How your child’s bite grows matters more

Orthodontics built around growth

Good orthodontics isn’t only about straight teeth; it’s about how your child’s jaw, bite, and airway develop over time. When we get the foundation right, straight teeth tend to follow, and the results hold.

Carrollton & McKinney orthodontics at Kidz and Teen Dental + Orthodontics is led by Dr. Haider, whose training spans pediatric dentistry, facial orthopedics, and orthodontics. That means we evaluate the whole picture: growth, alignment, and function; and recommend treatment only when it benefits your child. When the right answer is to wait and watch, we’ll tell you that too.

Why have orthodontic care under the same roof as your dentist

  • One team that already knows your child handles cleanings, cavity care, and orthodontics together
  • No referrals across town and no starting over with a stranger
  • Coordinated planning as baby teeth give way to adult teeth
  • The same calm, kid-friendly approach your child is already used to
  • Comfort and sedation options on hand for nervous or special-needs kids

Treatment options for every kind of smile

Different bites need different tools. We’ll match the treatment to your child instead of fitting your child to one treatment.

Metal braces

The most time-tested option, and still the most effective for complex movements. Modern brackets are smaller and more comfortable than the braces parents remember.

Clear (3M) braces

Tooth-colored brackets that blend in for kids and teens who want a more discreet look but still need the control that fixed braces provide.

Invisalign clear aligners

Removable, nearly invisible aligners for the right candidate. Great for older kids and teens who can stay consistent with wear time.

Expanders and growth-guiding appliances

Used while your child is still developing to widen a narrow jaw, improve breathing, and create room for adult teeth.

Retainers

Worn after treatment to hold the new alignment in place so all that progress doesn’t drift back.

Appliances for sleep, TMJ, and complex cases

We also provide sleep apnea–related orthodontic appliances, TMJ treatment, and surgical orthodontic planning when a case calls for it.

When should my child first see an orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an orthodontic screening by age 7. That doesn’t mean braces at 7; most kids won’t need anything yet. It means we can spot bite or growth concerns early, while the jaw is still developing and easier to guide.

Some children benefit from early (Phase 1) treatment, many just need monitoring, and some need nothing at all. An evaluation tells you which.

How treatment usually unfolds

Step 1 — Consultation

We look at your child’s teeth, bite, and growth, often with a digital scan and X-rays, then explain what we see in plain language. No pressure, and second opinions are welcome.

Step 2 — A plan that fits your child

If treatment is recommended, we lay out the options, the timeline, and the cost in writing before anything begins.

Step 3 — Active treatment

Whether it’s braces, aligners, or an appliance, we keep appointments efficient and check in regularly as the teeth move into place.

Step 4 — Retention

Once the bite is where it should be, a retainer protects the result for the long haul.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child really need an orthodontic evaluation at age 7?
K
L
A screening by age 7 is recommended because it lets us catch growth and bite issues while they're easiest to guide. Most 7-year-olds won't need treatment, but a quick evaluation gives you a clear picture and more options if something does come up.
Braces or Invisalign?
K
L
Neither is automatically better; each suits certain cases. Braces give more control for complex corrections, while Invisalign offers a removable, discreet option for a consistent teen. Because we offer both, our Carrollton & McKinney orthodontics recommendation is based on your child's bite, not on what we happen to stock.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
K
L
It depends on the type of treatment and how long it takes. We provide a written estimate up front, accept dental insurance, and offer financing options like CareCredit plus an in-house membership plan. Ask our team about current new-patient orthodontic offers.
My child is anxious about treatment. Can you help?
K
L
Yes. We've spent years caring for nervous and special-needs kids, and we explain every step before it happens. When extra support is appropriate, comfort options including nitrous oxide and oral sedation may be available in-office.

Start with an orthodontic evaluation

The best plan starts with understanding how your child is growing. We’ll look at their bite, explain what we see, and recommend the right next step.
